Kitchen
The kitchen display shows the food waiters have ordered, live, as each round is sent. Go to Kitchen orders.
Kitchen staff unlock the kitchen terminal with their own PIN and land on this page. Owners, administrators, managers and supervisors can also open it on a registered terminal. The kitchen display does not show payments, product costs or bills.
What appears on the display
Section titled “What appears on the display”Each time a waiter orders, the prepared items in that round appear as a ticket. Drinks and other direct-issue items are handed over from the counter, so they do not appear.
Each ticket shows:
- the round number, such as Round 2;
- the table or tab, and the waiter;
- how long ago it was sent;
- each item with its quantity, note and modifiers.
Tickets move across three columns:
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| New orders | Waiting to be started. |
| Preparing | Cooking now. |
| Ready for pickup | Waiting for the waiter. |
The screen updates by itself while the badge reads Live. Select Refresh to reload at any time.
Working a ticket
Section titled “Working a ticket”- When you start cooking, select Start. The ticket moves to Preparing.
- When the food is ready, select Ready. The ticket moves to Ready for pickup.
You can select Ready straight from New orders if you skip Start.
Ready marks every prepared item in that round as ready and alerts the waiter who owns the order. The alert stays on the waiter’s screen until they collect the food and select Collected, even if they were away when it was sent. The ticket then leaves the display.
Printing tickets
Section titled “Printing tickets”Each round is also queued to the kitchen printer, or to the bar printer for items the waiter marked for the bar. The print status shows at the bottom of the ticket. Print attention means printing failed or its result is unknown; the reason is shown underneath.
If the printer has not printed a ticket, select Print ticket to open it so you can print it from this device. A manager must then confirm in Settings that the paper ticket came out before the print queue entry is closed.
If you see No connected printer agent was found, the kitchen printer is not set up for tracked printing. You can still use Print ticket, but TillPoint cannot confirm the ticket printed. Ask a manager to set up the printer — see Settings, terminals and printers.
